Coffee, Tea & Hot Chocolates

Maltese coffee is mainly based on coffee arabica which is a species of coffee also known as the “coffee shrub of Arabia”, “mountain coffee” or “arabica coffee”.

Malta is renowned for its “kafé imsajjar” – freshly ground coffee infused with aniseed, cloves, and “cikwejra” (chicory, cooked on the “stanjata”, a slow-cooking coffee stove, which in days of old was left cooking the coffee all day long.

In cold, winter days, adding a dash of alcohol to the coffee goes a long way to make you feel warm and cosy.
