Some 4000 years later Malta is witnessing a revival of this ancient art as viticulture positions itself to become one of the island’s leading agricultural activities. There are several wine making companies in Malta and two of the major companies were founded in 1907 and 1919 respectively showing that Malta has always been involved in wine-making craft. The high standards of the Maltese wine are partly attributed to Malta’s favorable climatic conditions but also to the controls by experts to ensure that the optimum level of quality is achieved.
