Ulysses - Authentic Gozitan Syrah - Marsovin
Dedicated to the cleverest hero in ancient Greek Mythology, Ulysses is the name of Marsovin’s first Gozitan Syrah. Produced from a yield of 15,224 kg (in 2004) and 35,717 kg (in 2005) of handpicked Syrah grapes and harvested in 7 selected family vineyards in Gozo. These are found in the vicinity of the picturesque Ramla Valley; overlooked by Calypso’s Cave, the same cave where Ulysses was believed to have lived for 7 years with the nymph Calypso who promised him immortality.
This first vintage (launched in 2005) produced a very exclusive and limited amount of 16,320 numbered bottles, making Ulysses a new collectors’ item with good ageing potential and was a total sell out after only four months. The 2005 vintage (launched in June 2006) has produced a limited amount of 34,066 numbered bottles.
It is a full bodied ruby red wine very delicate on the palate, with soft tannins and soft fruity aromas reminiscent of raspberries and plums.
